RONALD MCDONALDS CHILDREN’S CHARITIES PROVIDES FUNDING FOR HANDCYLES FOR KIDS WITH SPINA BIFIDA

On Saturday ,June 26, 2010 the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of BC held their annual family picnic. Ronald McDonald attended along with Robin McManne (Community Relations Representative) who presented the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association with a cheque for $13,526.00 which was used to purchase two adapted trikes and four hand cycles for our bicycle loan program.

Four children in attendance were able to take home bicycles that day. One child each from Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey and Chilliwack received a loaner bike and the remaining 2 bikes were sent to Armstrong and Dawson Creek. For most of the children, it was the first time that they had been able to ride a bicycle.

We are extremely grateful to Ronald McDonalds’s Children’s Charities for the grant. To see the delight in the children’s faces was amazing. Bicycling opens up a whole new world for them and allows them to be able to keep up to their peers.
